This example is one of the most sought-after ‘D-Series’ variants, in the ultimate specification of lightweight seats, manual gearbox, and 4.9-litre engine, as delivered from new. Still retaining its original engine, this car was previously owned by Mr William “Bill” Medcalf, former chairman of the Bentley Drivers’ Club, and later by his brother James, who also succeeded him as chairman over a decade ago. The car was borrowed by Bentley Motors in 2007 to create a 1/18th scale model of the R-Type Continental, a testament to how highly regarded it is.
