We are incredibly proud to announce that we have been entrusted by McLaren Racing with the sale of five very special Formula One cars, each coming directly from the McLaren Heritage Collection and retained by McLaren since they were last campaigned.
This is an incredibly exciting opportunity, not only because of the significance and history of the cars themselves, but because it is exceptionally rare for a collector to acquire race-driven Formula One cars directly from the manufacturer and team that built and campaigned them.
Spanning more than three decades of McLaren Formula One history, the collection includes two V12-powered MP4/6As with Gerhard Berger and Ayrton Senna history, a Jenson Button and Lewis Hamilton MP4/27A, the hugely significant MCL35M, raced by Lando Norris to a podium finish at the 2021 Monaco Grand Prix in its iconic Gulf livery, before forming part of McLaren’s famous 1-2 finish at Monza later that season. The MCL37A represents an equally extraordinary opportunity, being the most modern campaigned McLaren Formula One car ever to be offered into private ownership, with a fascinating connection to Hollywood, having been driven by Brad Pitt at the Circuit of the Americas during filming for F1® The Movie.
“When we handled the sales of both the Ecclestone Grand Prix Collection and the Ojjeh Collection, there was significant interest in acquiring individual cars, but ultimately both collections were sold in their entirety to single buyers. There is of course every possibility that the same could happen here. However, these five cars will be offered individually and there is no time pressure whatsoever. Our priority, and McLaren’s, is to find the right homes for them.” – Tom
