Pebble Beach

07th August 2015

You just can’t help but get excited about Pebble Beach. The anticipation is always huge when there is so much going on in one week, along with the fact it all takes place on such an incredible coastline as the Monterey Peninsula, it’s easy to understand why.

The Quail Concours, the big auctions and the historic racing at Leguna Seca, all round off an amazing few days in the build up to the Pebble Beach Concours.

It’s precisely for this reason that Tom blocks out the week in diary every year – there’s absolutely no chance he won’t be there! This year we did not enter a car in the Concours – we had such an incredible year in 2014 showing the 250 Testa Rossa #0704, that we know we can’t repeat that experience anytime soon. But of course, while Pebble Beach is always a pleasure, it’s also an important business networking opportunity for Tom; a place to meet clients, shake the hands of new contacts and spend endless hours discussing the market.

And talking of the market, this year RM Sotheby’s has announced the sale of the so called ‘Pinnacle Portfolio’ at its Monterey auction.

This is a collection we know very well, several of these cars having been sold by us sold to the current owner and Tom is very interested to see how they will perform at auction. His gut feeling is that there are certain cars that are potentially not best suited for the auction block, while others will no doubt do very well – potentially capable of setting new records.

One thing is for sure, Tom will be there and ready to pounce if he feels something represents a good opportunity!
