The Aston Martin DB5 needs little introduction. Widely regarded as one of the most iconic British grand tourers ever built, it combines Touring Superleggera design with hand-built Aston Martin craftsmanship. With its elegant proportions and unmistakable presence, the DB5 remains one of the most desirable classic cars ever produced.
Chassis no. DB5/1751/R was supplied new by Aston Martin agents J. Brake & Company Ltd of Somerset in 1964. The car benefits from an excellent contemporary history, with the majority of works completed over the last 26 years by respected marque specialists. This included a full and detailed restoration by R.S. Williams which was completed in 1999 and supported by photographic documentation within the history file, culminating in a First in Class win at the 1999 AMOC Concours held at Goodwood House. Further specialist attention has continued since, including notable work invoiced by R.S. Williams, covering various improvements, most notably the bare metal re-paint in Silver Birch. The car has remained in regular specialist care, with its most recent service completed in September 2025.
Today, the DB5 presents in excellent condition throughout, reflecting both the quality of its restoration and the careful stewardship it has enjoyed since. Importantly, it has been sympathetically enhanced with discreet modern conveniences to improve usability without compromising its character, including:
- RSW 4.7 litre engine upgrade
- RSW Shock Absorber Kit
- Automatic 4 Speed Gearbox (original manual gearbox accompanies the car)
- Air Conditioning
- Power Assisted Steering
- Alpine Audio System (infotainment screen neatly hidden behind the speaker grille)
- Full Body PPF
- Global Telemetrics tracking system
1751/R is a beautifully restored, well-documented DB5 that has been thoughtfully upgraded for modern enjoyment, a rare kind of example that can be used as intended, refined, comfortable and effortless, while still offering the timeless presence and stature that define Aston Martin’s most celebrated grand tourer.
