Raced in period as a Ferrari ‘works’ entry by Alberto Ascari and Luigi Villoresi before being purchased from the factory by Tony Vandervell in 1950.

Campaigned in its Vandervell ‘Thin Wall Special’ specification in 1951 and 1952 by the likes of Reg Parnell, Peter Whitehead and José Froilán González. The car achieved numerous victories and podium finishes and was piloted to victory by Reg Parnell at Silverstone, marking the first defeat of Alfa Romeo by a Ferrari.

A historically important car that played an integral part in the development and creation of Tony Vandervell’s own Formula One team, Vanwall.

Following its racing career, it was retained by Tony Vandervell and has since only been owned by Tom Wheatcroft’s renowned Donington Collection before joining The Ecclestone Grand Prix Collection in 1996.
