Cream with Red Leather

SOLD

  • Description
  • Specification

In the early evening of February 12th 1957, a fire broke out at Jaguar’s Browns Lane factory destroying nine D-type’s that were planned to be converted to the road-going Jaguar XKSS. In 2016 Jaguar Classic announced that they would build those nine cars and build them to the exact 1957 specification, which included each car being designated their period correct XKSS chassis number. The nine cars were immediately snapped up by individuals in all four corners of the globe and the car we present here today is only the second example ever to be offered for resale.

This example, chassis #XKSS776 is finished in its period correct colour combination of Cream over Red leather as per Jaguar’s records. It was delivered new to its one and only owner in North America and subsequently road registered and has since only covered 141 miles.

After recently being acquired by ourselves, it’s been imported into the UK and is offered complete with a copy of its original factory sales agreement, documented history file, car cover and spare key.

Dubbed the ‘original supercar’, the XKSS was introduced by Jaguar in 1957 as a road-going conversion of the Le Mans-winning D-type racing car and is today one of the most highly sought-after cars of that era.
