It’s hard to think of a more iconic car than a Gullwing, with those famous doors the model has been loved and adored throughout the world ever since its great triumph at Le Mans in 1952. It was a car that simply blew the competition away! Its desirability was boosted by the usability of day-to-day driving with plenty of luggage space on offer (compared with other race winning cars), this along with its ‘knock dead gorgeous looks’ took the whole motoring world by storm. The car we are proud to offer here for sale was supplied new to the USA. Finished in its original colours of black with cream leather, this car has just completed a ‘no expense spared’ restoration by the well respected and renowned UK experts Moto Technique with the engine work being completed by Crosthwaite & Gardiner, it comes complete with fitted luggage, tartan seat cushions, tools, jack, owners manuals, spare keys and thousands of pictures from its total restoration. The car was featured recently in the June 2011 issue of Octane magazine, where a seven page article was needed to detail the restoration. This has to be the very best example anywhere in the world, of what can only be described as ‘a huge part of Mercedes-Benz success and history’.
